What is Food for Thought?

Increasing Skilled Professionals in Detroit
Food for Thought is a mentoring initiative that empowers Detroit college-age men to complete their education experience with a greater understanding of life, purpose, principles and learning. This will increase native skilled professionals in the city of Detroit and reduce “Brain Drain”.

How it all started.

In the genesis of Food for Thought, we identified that our community, Detroit students, lacked the fundamentals needed to succeed. Most students have not developed internal mechanisms for maximizing the college institution’s resources to their advantage. This leads to students feeling disconnected from university culture, and ultimately not realizing how college education can impact their home city. These feelings are damaging to educational success and the development of Detroit youth into skilled professionals. As it stands, there are very few programs that help develop these internal mechanisms for success.

Our Solution

Food for Thought is more than a program; it’s our solution that will bridge the gap between the world we currently observe and our vision for the future.

By educating our youth on the power of purpose, engaging them in their interest, and empowering them to shift their focus to success, we can inspire generations of resourceful, forward moving, and transformative leaders.
