Meet Our Mentees: Udit Sarkar

What are your aspirations for college?

To improve my decisiveness and decision-making skills. There are so many opportunities that I can take advantage of, but being decisive enough to effectively capitalize on them is a lesson I hope to learn over the next four years.

Why MSU?

Community. I hope to develop and expand my professional network, but I also look forward to finding a college community — a family, even — that remains with me after graduation. Midnight Golf played a major role in my enrollment decision; the program provided me with a tight-knit community at MSU, but it also provided me with connections to scholarships and a mentor network that frequently visits East Lansing, which allows me to continue the mentor-mentee relationships I’ve developed since last September.

What are you looking for out of the F4T program?

Guidance. In particular, I hope to receive advice from successful graduates who were recently in the same position as myself — Food for Thought does exactly that. I get the sense that, in F4T, my mentors and mentees will reinforce my aspirations and urge me to achieve them in ways I would not have otherwise considered.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I want to be remembered as someone who constantly sought self-improvement; and remembered as someone who did not believe in excellence — only in my constant improvement and constant change.
