My name is John, and I’m a freshman at Michigan State University, where I’m pursuing Digital Storytelling with aspirations to become a film and TV director. MSU stood out to me because of its strong media and arts programs, and I felt the environment would challenge me creatively while giving me the tools I need to grow as a storyteller. I’ve always believed that powerful stories can inspire change, and I want to create films and content that reflect diverse voices and perspectives.
Being part of the Food 4 Thought program is an incredible opportunity. I’m looking forward to learning from mentors who have already navigated the paths I aspire to walk. I’m eager to gain insights not only into my career but also into how I can make a meaningful impact within my community. F4T represents a chance to deepen my understanding of service, leadership, and the importance of investing in others, just as I hope to invest in future generations through my work.
My ultimate goal is to leave behind a legacy of resilience, creativity, and influence. I want to show young people, especially those from underserved communities, that it’s possible to turn dreams into reality with hard work and determination. Whether through film, mentorship, or service, I want my story to be one of options over ultimatums, where the possibilities are endless if you’re willing to step outside of your comfort zone.
